Ali Hintz
Baptized in the Rain
The winds are clashing,
fighting. The Earth snarls
up from beneath and
punches the air with
lightning. You breathe in
ions stolen from
a celestial brood
while waltzing through the
fields to the tune of
thunder. Is this what
it means to be at
the mercy of God?
He plunders the earth,
smacks it with a bolt
of lightning bound for
nobody, bound for
anyone.
The Fall
Charging stream-
a break in the rock.
Droplets chanting, singing, screaming,
I am! I am! I am!
They fall apart
as each one before has done-
Breaking apart
becoming one.
