Interview with Larry D. Thacker
1. What is the symbolism of All Seeing Being?
It's a transhumanist/posthumanist message about the future combining of artificial intelligence and religion. The partially organic/partially robotic being is posed like ancient icons. You'll notice as well the subtle two bites from the "Apple" on what might be a sacred book or easily an Ipad. The scene is presented upon the mechanics of the universe in motion and in making.
2. If you could only pick one color to create artwork with, which one would you choose and why?
Red. Red represents our most intimate working color, that of blood and heat.
3. How do you nourish your creativity?
I'm a full time writer, so my writing informs my painting and other art, and vice-versa. We learn to do by seeing and doing, so I would say taking in as much art as possible, including that which I may not necessarily enjoy or easily understand, reinforces my creativity.
4. If you could ask any artist past or present to paint your portrait, who would it be and why?
Odd Nerdrum with Mark Rothko on the sidelines ranting.
